Well, sure, it's implausible, assuming that we've got digital information storage. Maybe it's not digital; maybe it's some kind of holographic storage. Assuming it is digital, though, the results of unskilled Replishop work could be poisonous, induce mutation, etc, etc, so that would tend to make me nervous.

Holographic storage will be the next breakthrough. The move from 2 dimensions to 3 dimensions will completely change the way we think about computers. We're at about 4Gb per sq inch now Research on holographic storage has been going on for years. It works but it's still in the stage of being a giant lab experiment.

As evidence, Information Week has an article on Holographic Storage (April 22, 2002, page 20). They're talking about a holographic storage medium which will store 100 GB on a cartridge that looks like it's roughly the size of a CD. In discussing the value of this technology, they state "The system should help stop

The next generation DVD technology and holographic storage mediums only store like up to 100GB on a 5 inch disc. 1 terabyte would be hard to believe, 15 is just crazy talk. If it was 15 *gigabytes* on a 3 inch disc like GC uses that'd be more believable...
